Pochettino stands among the finest managers globally, and I express this viewpoint based on reason and logic. Despite leading Tottenham, a team not traditionally associated with titles like City, Chelsea, or United, why should we judge him solely for not winning trophies? His achievements at Tottenham were remarkable, securing Top 4 finishes four times in a row. It’s important to note that during this period, Tottenham faced significant challenges, such as minimal spending in three consecutive transfer windows, operating on a limited budget, and even playing an entire season at Wembley.

If we hypothetically consider Pep or Klopp managing Tottenham under similar financial constraints, is it realistic to believe they would have won the Premier League or UEFA Champions League? Let’s also consider Pochettino’s tenure at PSG. In just one year and five months, he triumphed in the French Ligue 1 and French Cup. Some may argue that these victories are easily attainable, but it’s crucial to acknowledge that PSG had never won a Champions League in their history (0). Moreover, in his first season in charge, Pochettino eliminated formidable opponents like Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the Champions League, while the subsequent season saw an exit at the hands of Real Madrid, a team that went on to eliminate the likes of Tuchel, Pep, and Klopp.

Pochettino’s managerial prowess earned him recognition and the endorsement of esteemed figures like Sir Alex Ferguson, who believed he had the potential to become the Premier League’s next successful manager. His impact at Southampton was truly eye-opening, as he implemented a distinctive and groundbreaking high-press, high-line style of play in 2013. Notably, he maximized the involvement of full-backs in both offensive and transitional phases of the game. Pochettino’s emphasis on high intensity and swift role transitions from his players has been a defining characteristic of his approach.

With a preference for the 4-2-3-1 formation, Pochettino has showcased his tactical flexibility by effectively altering formations during matches, often switching to a back-three setup in the final stages when his team held a lead. His commitment to studying the game is evident, as he frequently remains in his office, analyzing opponents and searching for that critical piece of information that can make a decisive difference.
Pochettino’s ability to reshape the game through technical and tactical changes, particularly in the second half, has garnered admiration from critics and experts alike. A noteworthy instance was during the Champions League clash between Tottenham and

Manchester City. Trailing in the match, Pochettino astutely read the game and identified that City were struggling against long passes and the diamond-shaped midfield. He made the strategic decision to bring on Fernando Llorente in a different role, utilizing him as a target man to hold the ball and rapidly distribute it into pockets of space for the attacking players. This shrewd move ultimately helped Tottenham secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Pochettino’s analytical acumen, tactical adaptability, and game-changing alterations have consistently impressed observers. His achievements on the field and ability to make impactful decisions during crucial moments exemplify his exceptional managerial abilities.

Pochettino’s demeanor on the touchline is a captivating blend of composure and emotion. There are moments when he remains calm, meticulously observing every aspect of the game with a keen eye, analyzing the smallest details. However, when the intensity of the occasion demands it, he unleashes raw emotions on the touchline. Whether it’s celebrating a goal or expressing frustration towards his players for not adhering to his tactical instructions, Pochettino’s emotions exude genuine passion.

During breaks in play, such as injury stoppages or substitutions, Pochettino often engages one of his players in a conversation, placing his hands on their shoulders as they discuss crucial tactical observations. These small yet significant gestures in the midst of a game highlight the uniqueness of Pochettino’s coaching style. It demonstrates his ability to effectively communicate and make tactical adjustments on the spot, emphasizing his attention to detail and hands-on approach in managing his team.

The question then arises: why is Pochettino subjected to doubt and criticism? It’s evident that such judgments lack logical coherence, as people buy into unfounded delusions without rational and data-driven arguments. Pochettino is undoubtedly a world-class manager who now, for the first time in his career, has a genuine opportunity with Chelsea to compete for both the Premier League and the Champions League. The sky’s the limit for him.
